More teasers!

I've been shooting like crazy the past few weeks... here's a few more teasers until I can get the rest up.

This one is of Jennifer from my Spend A Day with Katie!

And this hot one is from Sara and Zac's engagement session. They wanted a cool night session so it has been great to play with off camera lighting more than I usually do for something different!

Here's some sweet words Sara emailed me about their engagement session:

"I know I've already thanked you on facebook. But Zac and I just wanted to thank you again for Saturday. We have never had professional pics taken of us, and all we could talk about that night after our meeting was how far we've come from meeting in organic chemistry lab at florida state in our goggles and aprons...to having the best wedding photographer ever taking pics of us like we were movie stars! You made us feel so comfortable. Thank you again. We can't wait to see the pics."

Thank YOU Sara! I so so so love my brides!

Next up, the rest of Danielle and Jay's engagement session in South Florida! It's so going to be worth the wait! :-)

My father/daughter dance.

"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass,
it's about learning to dance in the rain."

~From a plaque my parents were given by our friend Connie

Last night, I went on a special date. With my dad.

As a wedding photographer, one of my favorite moments at each wedding is the father/daughter dance. When first hearing the news this summer that my dad had cancer and the short time he was given, what broke my heart the most was the thought that he might not be here to walk me down the aisle one day, or dance with at my wedding. I tear up everytime at the thought of it, and have to fight back the tears now at each wedding I continue to shoot.

With the recent news that my dad's tumor is continuing to increase, they have put him on a new chemo treatment to try to battle it differently. While I am continuing to hope for the best, I still wanted us to celebrate a special night of dressing up in our best, and dancing together for a father/daughter date night. My mom played photographer with the point and shoot camera, but I also filmed the dance to preserve the moment to play one day at my wedding should I not get the chance to dance with him in person. I tried to hold back the tears as we danced to Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl," but it meant so much to hold my daddy in my arms and dance together... simply because.

Here's the photos from our date night and the video below of us dancing in my parents' living room. I hope it encourages you to stop and show love to those most important to you, simply because too.

And my mom wrote a blog entry about last night too! Go check it out at johnnysjourneytovictory.blogspot.com!

Interviewed on FStopBeyond.com

A couple of weeks ago I got interviewed on one of my favorite photography podcasts, FStopBeyond.com. I always listen to the podcast when I'm editing, and what I love about it is how Ron Dawson doesn't just talk about photography, but he delves into the heart behind the photographer. So I was thrilled to be asked to participate and today my interview went live. You can check it out on the podcast website, download on iTunes, or you can listen here below! Enjoy!

Krista spent the day with me!

It's funny how things come back around.

Back in high school, a cheerleader in my English class had met a boy over the summer and made this elaborate scrapbook of their dating relationship that she brought into the class to show everyone. I became so fascinated how she combined photography with page design and wrote captions in between it all to tell the story of their love.

From there, I took my love of photography and created a college going away present for my mom creating a scrapbook of all our mother/daughter photos together from me growing up.

From there, I decided to major in magazine journalism because I loved scrapbooking so much, and saw magazines as an advanced form of scrapbooking.

Studying magazines, I took some photojournalism classes, and graphic design and video editing. I went on to work in journalism for a bit, then graphic design, then videography until I finally went back to my first love... photography.

Now, here I am a photographer, and the FIRST person that signed up to spend a day with me was none other than that cheerleader from high school... Krista! I was so glad to get the opportunity to thank her all this time later for inspiring me back in high school, and was it so awesome to give back to her with our day as she now ventures into taking her photography to the next level.

Here was her sweet testimonial:

"I SPENT A DAY with SCARLETT!!!
How can I ever thank you girl??? I had an amazing day with you last Thursday & I'm so honored to have been given this opportunity to see you in action. I walked away from this experience with more confidence in myself than I had that same morning. You are such an inspiration to me and I can't thank you enough. Also, I just LOVE my FABULOUS KRISTA BAG! I'm beginning to consider myself Fabulous now that I've been Scarlett-ified!!! You're so very talented and I wish you nothing but success & happiness! Hugs... The Fabulous Krista"

Here's some fun pictures I took of Krista to start our day off last week, followed by the hot shots from our photoshoot!

p.s. I have to rave about these new actions I just got to create these collage boards. I LOVE them and it was soooooo stinkin' easy to create the collage with a few clicks of a button. Thanks to Jodi Friedman for creating these to enhance my workflow! Go check it out at www.mcpactions.com!

And now our photoshoot of a Flirst session with Jordan and her boyfriend Nick. The whole day felt like a reunion because Jordan is the little sister of another classmate of ours, Lindsey, and we all used to play together as little little girls.

Be sure to check Krista's blog for her own take on the photoshoot and the hot shots she got too!

Sneaking in the bathroom!

I loved Jordan's green eyes!

Krista in action getting her perspective of the shot above!

I stuck Jordan and Nick and Krista in the grass to try something different!

And I jumped in for a shot!

I adore this shot and the contrast of Jordan's Fendi bag against the gross bus stop.

And sometimes accidental shots checking the light turn out great!

And the slideshow....

Katie from Michigan is here today spending the day with me and we are doing an awesome bridal glam photoshoot later today. Check back soon!

Angelique & Matt are engaged!

Ever since I saw "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", I have wanted to shoot a Greek wedding, and I'm so excited to get the opportunity to shoot Angelique and Matt's upcoming wedding. I was telling her a how recent Greek restaurant I went into, they were dancing on the tables and throwing napkins all over the place. "Oh, yeah, that's how it will be at my reception," she told me. Woo hoo, that'll make for some fun photos! So awesome!!!

Angelique and Matt were so much fun to shoot! These two love birds met on match.com and truly are a perfect "match" for each other as I saw during their engagement session. It was fun to end the session in a trash the fiance session also recreating a favorite movie poster of Angelique's rolling around in the sand and water.

Here's my faves and the slideshow below!

I was so excited to see Angelique show up in these hot pink shoes!

I love how "paparazzi" this photo is.

Here we were recreating the movie poster from "From Here to Eternity" for her.

Tickle, tickle!

And the slideshow....
