In memory of....
While eating at Wendy and Jamal's reception, I got an email on my phone from Emily thanking me for the photos I took of Ryan and his dad at the wedding and how much it meant to Ryan to have those pictures now that two days ago, Ryan's father passed and joined my father in Heaven. I handed the phone to my second shooter Beth and said "Read this, this is why we do what we do."
I wanted to post a couple of photos in Mr. Kroutil's memory and share the link to his CaringBridge journal. Just as you guys were there for me, I ask that you please go leave some encouraging love for their family on the site and add their family to your prayers as they go through this difficult time.
Rest in Peace Mr. Kroutil. Your smile will be missed.

This post gave me goosebumps. Tomorrow morning I am taking a trip to visit my Dad who is loosing his battle with Cancer. Last night I went through my boxes of photos to find every photo of him and while I love the ones I do have I dearly wish that at some point I had a family portrait with my parents. Sadly, that will never happen. The irony of being a photographer and not having this beloved photo is not lost on me. My thoughts are with the Kroutil family today xxx
You're right- what a beautiful smile. It never leaves my mind what an important job we have! My best wishes to the family.
Wow, such an awesome story! Thanks for sharing. There are times when being a photographer is hard because we doubt our own abilities, but it's stories like this that remind me that it's not about me...it's about the people we are capturing and the history we are documenting.
Thanks for being so wonderful, Scarlett.
Reading this took me back to losing my dad's beautiful smile, God bless you, and know that he's still smiling...
You are in my thoughts and prayers...
