Dad's life. Remembered.
I love this shot I took of my dad on his 60th birthday 2 years ago.I was up until 6am this morning finishing my dad's slideshow video I will be playing at the funeral on Saturday. I'm not one to get up and speak, so instead I wanted to present his memory in a creative way through the slideshow, while incorporating video footage I have of him over the years. I will be posting it here on the blog after the funeral. All in all, it was about 300 photos and 25 minutes long! Whew! I never realized I had sooooooo many photo albums and photos of him. Who would have thunk I would end up a photographer? ha! Going through all these photos recently, it just truly makes me appreciate the beauty of my job, in documenting history. Family. Love. Emotion. Memories.
For now though, the paper published his obituary today that my mom wrote about him. You can click here to read it:

Scarlett,
This is so beautiful! I'm so glad that you and your mom surprised him for his birthday that year - I know that is a moment he cherished and what an inspiration to all of us to remember those we love, and realize that we won't be on the Earth forever...because we have a beautiful kingdom waiting for us in heaven. What a time we will have on Saturday celebrating his life and the wonderful friends, daught, wife and pets he had.
you're in our prayers, scarlett! i'll be thinking of you on Saturday.
Scarlett,
You and your mother are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. He has certainly touched so many lives including my own. Thank you for including us all in his and your journey together. Your family is such an inspiration to us all!
With Deepest Sympathy,
Kimberly
Scarlett...how my heart hurts for your loss. Tears were flowing when I received the first email announcing his home-going. I've never even met you, but appreciate your testimony of God's grace and faithfulness through these difficult times. Even when He feels far away...He's there. He won't move. And OH how he loves you!!! Ps. 91 is such a beautiful comfort- as are many others.
Big hugs go your way and know that I'm praying for you and your mom as you go through the day on Saturday. May God's presence be very real to you and every person that attends!
With loving sympathy,
Vanessa

Looks like he lived a really full life with family and friends that loved him dearly. What more could a person ask for before making that final journey to heaven.
Wishing you and your family the best at the funeral today. <3 <3
I hope the funeral went well and gave you and your family some type of closure. I'm sure the video you made was amazing and very honoring. I'm sorry for your pain. I'm still praying (and crying).
This picture and entry made me tear up. He was lucky to have such a wonderful, caring daughter. I think you can see that in his eyes and in his smile.
What a great way to pay tribute to your Dad!
I usually am so good at staying caught up with your blog, Scarlett, but hadn't looked on it since you had your glam shot with Kacy. I was all excited to hear about your Vegas adventures, and my heart sank to read this post about your father's passing. I don't even know what to say. My heart is with you and your mom during this difficult time.
I know things are crazy right now, but I just wanted you to know I've been thinking about you. Hope you're hanging in there as well as can be expected.
