A big hi(n)t.

Yesterday, my jaw dropped when I realized my blog hit an all time high for the number of hits I get in a day. I won't say the number because I think it's lame to brag, but I do want to take a moment to thank everyone who visits and links to my blog. In stalking my blog stalkers through statcounter.com, it's fun to view the "recent came from" part and discover the random blogs and websites I am showcased on, such as this recent feature on Lorelai Rorke's blog.

In wondering further where all the hits are coming from, this lead to my usual Googling myself to stay on top of what buzz is being said about me out in world wide web of photography. I ran across this interview with a sweet blog reader, Danielle, of Neil Creative Design, mentioning my name in her interview! I wanted to share her answer with you because without knowing it, she is sharing a big hint of some goodies I am working on behind the scenes and will be revealing in the next few weeks!!

And it would be so much fun to spend a day with her and all of my wonderful blog readers! By the way, yes, Danielle, I did indeed start as a graphic designer (you are way better than I ever was though!) and a videographer before becoming a photographer. All amazing seasons of my life that God took me through to become the photographer I am today. :-) Anyways, I just got done checking out Danielle's site, and you must go check it out too right now! She is super talented and offers amazing templates to use in creating all kinds of announcements for your photos! Great tool for photographers to offer clieints and for brides looking for unique Save the Date or Thank You cards! And you can click here to receive a discount code from her fabulous interview!

Thanks again to each of you for your continued interest in my blog. Lots of exciting things in store for my fellow photographers, but first I must take care of my brides and wrap up a few more details before I can reveal the upcoming big news! Stay tuned!!

And just for the fun of it, if today my blog exceeds the number of hits from yesterday, I'll give away a free $10 iTunes gift certificate to the person who leaves a comment on this blog entry with the most fabulous answer to this question:

If you could spend a day with anyone, dead or alive, real or fictional, famous or not famous, who would it be and why?

Be creative, original, heartfelt, silly, out of the box, fun, whatever.

EDIT: The day I published this, my blog didn't exceed the day before, so I changed the contest rules a little bit. New rules are, when this blog entry reaches 50 comments, then I'll choose my fave answer to give away the $10 iTunes gift certificate. So keep the comments coming! Only 20 more to go!! :-)

I love your blog Scarlett! You are such an inspiration. If I could spend a day with someone it would have to be Scarlett O'Hara! Yes, I am a HUGE Gone With The Wind fan! Vivian Leigh has to be the most beautiful actor! Her personal life was very crazy but she was a wonderful actor. Katie Scarlett was so "vivacious and full of life" as Miss Melanie Hamilton Wilkes graciously stated. She was a strong willed, determined and driven woman. When I was on bed rest last year with my second pregnancy I watched Gone With The Wind. It kept me going. The nurses would come in and laugh at me. I kept thinking to myself "if I can get through this I can get through anything". After 3 weeks my beautiful angel came into this world at 29 weeks. Very early but very healthy. I think some people were surprised I did not name her Scarlett. If there were not so many Katie's out there already she prob. would have been Katie Scarlett. She ended up being Carrington Savannah (family meaning)! Sounds like a sweet Georgia name anyway, huh! I loved reading recently about how you blogged your name and found the preemie who had the same name. I can so.... relate to that! So sweet of you to contact her and she in return. You are truley an inspiration! My thoughts and prayers are with your dad and your family. OK, so now can I change my mind to spending the day with you? Thanks Scarlett for letting us into your world. I hope I can be like you one day, My Scarlett O'Hara!

You shouldn't be surprised by the #s! We love your blog! :)

I would chose my dad. He died in 2000 and I just wish I could have another day with him. I still have so many questions and things I wish I would have said.

Scarlett,

Or should I say Ms. Pink Diva!! *SMILE* I want to begin by saying your are truly an amazing talent! And God has bestowed upon you the gift of success. With that said, I want you to be aware of people trying to use your photography to escalate their business. I believe in being successful, but I also believe in people putting in work to gain their own level of success. You take amazingly elegant, crisp, clear, and yes..."Captivating" photo's and I have run across a website highlighting nothing but 'Your Work'. It appears as if this individual is counting on you to bring them business. I not only admire you for what you have accomplished at such a young age, but I also would like to caution you about those who want to attach themselves to you, your work and your name to launch themselves and the business they SHOULD be trying to grow on their own. It is great to help people develop, but they MUST develop and grow their business on their own merit, not on someone elses. I'm sure you are admired (really an envy of your success) by this person, almost to the point of imitation. I know they say imitation is the best form of flattery, but it can become a bit obvious that it's bordering on copying 'YOUR' style. So, I will step down off of my soap box now and leave you with this. You ROCK!

Okay, first off, I LOVE your work, and you are absolutely stunning. I love your willingness to share your faith in God as I am also free with that as well. So, I'd love to meet the Libera Boys Choir. All twenty-something of them. I just have to hear them in person, and see if they are for real. Plus I've been practicing for a few years and I want a competition with their youngest member. I don't care if he's six or seven years old. I need to see if I can kick his butt in vocals. If not, then it would be an honor to have my own butt kicked by such a talented 6 year old.If you don't know who Libera Boys Choir is, check out this You Tube video and you will see: http://youtube.com/watch?v=q4S0Wvx5QBw

BTW, this was my walking down the aisle song at my wedding. And keep in mind, they're ALL boys!

I agree - you shouldn't be surprised by the numbers! You are fantastic!

If I could spend a day with anyone, it would be my Grandma. She passed away when I was eight and I still miss her terribly. I know that she is watching over me now, which is why I have remained in such great health in spite of my CF. She was just an amazing woman and someone I aspire to be like.

Woohoo! Congrats on the blog-lovers!

I'd spend a day with Enrique Iglesias (minus the gorgeous Anna Kournikova, of course). He would sing to me ALL DAY long and I would melt into a puddle beneath his feet.

Don't tell my husband, please.

Scarlett,

I would love to meet Jesus.

I want to sit with him, even if for just 5 minutes and let him hold my hands.

I want to feel his skin.

I want to feel his gentle touch and experience the Peace that he brings to the room.

I want to ask him how he battled all of the day-to-day temptations so perfectly. My struggles seem so small compared to what he endured for me, but I want to know how he always took the high road.

I want to hear his voice audibly, not just in my heart or through my readings.

I know that someday I will meet Jesus. He will walk me to the throne of [our] heavenly Father and say "here she is..". And there I will stand; beside Jesus. All of my wisdom, talents, experiences and physical family left behind... stripped of everything I have waiting for my God to say "well done my good and faithful servant."

In His Grip,

Ginny

My husband and I enjoy reading yoru blog. You have a talent (obviously aside for the gift of photography) in journaling. I do enjoy reading about you and your life!

So, I would spend the day with my husband. The clincher - on a warm Caribbean Island. We work together (from home), but with 2 small children (also at home while we attempt to work) I would give anything to be on a beach with a Dos Equis (sp?) and my man. So I guess it is not really a fair answer as I really do spend every day with him...

I would spend the day with?
Why you of course ;)

I would spend the day with my father. He is in warm D.C. and I am in white nights Alberta Canada and haven't squeezed his neck in really far too long. When I was younger I couldn't wait till I was out of the house, and years later, now that I am, I really miss all of his impartation and unconditional love for me, no matter what I do...I know he will always be there waiting with love and open arms to talk me and walk me through it

I'm not answering for the points although they would be nice...

Dead or alive... I'd want to spend the day with my little sister... She passed away a couple of weeks after she was born. I was about 4 I remember her and we still go to her grave from time to time. I know that she's been in wonderful hands all these years. But, I have a closer bond to my brother and two sisters than anyone else in life I love seeing who they have become and their take on life. I whole heartedly wonder what Lauren would be like. We would be closer in age than any of my other siblings. I wonder if she would be like Linds who is preppy and prissy, of like Eden who is the polar opposite. I wonder if she would be in love, coming to me with her relationship issues just like the others do. If I had my choice to spend a day with it would be her by far!

Easy Peasy! You! You've seriously become a huge inspiration to me. I grew up as a Lutheran, a devout one at that. My grandparents were both pastors in the Missouri Synod. But, somehow I lost my way....stopped going to church, stopped believing. And through your blog, not only do I get the inspiration I need to pursue my dreams, but you've (in a way) given me my faith back. I am now searching for a church in my area and feel as if I can do anything with God's help. I really didn't know how lost I was until I read some of your posts.

I remembered feeling so secure in God's love in the past and realized that the reason I felt so astray, so adrift now in my life was because I didn't have that faith anymore. And, since then I've gotten it back!!!

I would have to say my father. He died when I was 10 months old. He is like a fairytale story to me, just not real. He played drums at the Grand Ole Opry and stuff so I have pictures just like a book.

Professional Wise, not to sound whatever, but probably Scarlett. Your pictures are exactly were I want mine to be and your level of success is too.

You know I am one of you daily readers. I don't know if you get the "hit" on your stat counter because I get your feed in my email. But I love reading what you write. You really have a way of expressing yourself through words that is very uplifting and inspiring. Then just following your photo shoots, Your pictures are always awesome!

If I could spend the day with anyone...the name that comes to mind 1st is Peter Pan. My favorite Disney movie. To do all the fun things like fly, meet mermaids, brave Captain Hook...remain child like forever! Since having children I have realized just how much of my child like imagination I have lost and I would love so much just to have it back!

His interview with Charlie Rose back in... 1993... inspiring. Real.
And I love that he says we don't live life chronologically. I would kill for his autobiography... almost entirely in photos!
Plus, have you ever read about his photo collection? The photos he had by other photographers? Diane Arbus, Man Ray... that fabulous shot "Scherzo di Follia, 1863-66,” by Pierre-Louis Pierson.

Hi Scarlett - haven't posted in a while but definitely check your blog all the time for inspiration! Also keeping your father in my prayers. :) I would want to meet the grandmother I never knew - she died very young (early 40s) of skin cancer and in the photos I have of her, she looks like a Hollywood movie star. One of my prized possessions is the vintage camera she left behind. The photo of me on my "about me" section on Web site has her camera in it.

Great work as always!

Oh............
To answer the question you asked. . .Of course, I'd like to spend the day with Jesus, but I'm Heaven bound, so I'll be spending eternity with him. With that said, I would want to spend the day with my Mother In Law. She died exactly 2 weeks before we got married. She was killed in a car accident. Now that we have two precious boys, there are so many things I'd like to ask her about Brant. . .did Brant do this, did he do that, etc. etc. I guess I would just like to spend one last day with her!

I guess I'm too late to participate in the contest, but either way... It seems automatic that'd I'd say Jesus, but I want to be a little more earthly for this question.

I'd like to spend the day with my husband's grandfather whom I've never met. He's been in heaven for a while. Just so happens, he was a photographer. I'd love to see how he ran his business, got creative with old fashion film, etc.

Sorry, I seriously have to have to respond to Rachel Brooke's answer. OH. YEAH. TOTALLY Enrique Iglesias. What is it about him that is so flippin' captivating? Everytime he looks at me (yes, he is looking at me, bugger off) my heart just jumps out of my chest. I would have to say now that if I had to meet just one person, it would be Libera Boys Choir in first place and then Enrique Iglesias in First and a Half Place. LOL! (Sorry I had to say something about that) Way to go Rachel Brooke! LOL!

Scarlett is not only an incredible photographer, but she truly has a humble spirit! Her fame doesn't change who she is as a person and I love her for that!

Scarlett, you are such a beautiful soul. You are so real and I love that about you girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, having said that, my answer would be...

ABRAHAM LINCOLN!

He always amazed me at how he never gave up his dream to become president. He failed so many times and yet that didn't bury his self esteem, courage and drive to keep going until he became who, at the time, only he saw himself as. He was ridiculed, laughed at, and not believed in, yet he didn't need others to tell him how great of a man he was, he had his own sense of self worth, which was all he needed! Oh yeah, he also had a learning disability and still became president! Pretty remarkable huh!

I would SO LOVE TO MEET Abraham Lincoln and spend the day with him. I am sure there is so much to learn from him.

Okay, I read the question and simply had to answer whether or not I win this little entry! For all of us christians out here, I'm sure we think Jesus.... yes, I want to spend a day with Him. However, since I know I will be seeing Him one day when He calls us home... I wanted to write about someone else.

My choice is simply all that I dream about... the funny thing is... I don't know his name. All I know is that I'm captivated by this person. I think about him often and dream of what it would be like to actually know who he is.. You see, if I had the chance to spend just one day in the arms of the man that God has designed for me... it would surely be earthly bliss! I love him, yet never met him. I pray for him, yet I don't know his name. I wouldn't care where I was, or what we were doing... only to be with him is my desire... yes! this is my choice... I want to spend a day in the arms of my love, my soulmate, my closest friend... my husband.

Anyone know where he is? lol...

Scarlett,
As so many others have already said, I as well absolutely love your work. I happened to stumble upon your blog after reading someone else rave about you, and just had to check you out. As I read about your life, and the things you are going through, and the success you have achieved at such a young age...all I can say is WOW, look at God! Your humble spirit is something I truly admire, because you never stop giving God praise and the glory for all that He has done. For we all know that without Christ we are nothing. It is amazing how God can take our natural and add His super, and turn our abilities into something we could have never fathomed. You don't know in how many ways I have been touched, refreshed, and motivated by your blog. I thank God for your openness, your passion for your work, and his blessings upon your life.

Now in response to your question...lol. If I could spend the day with anyone, it would have to be Martin Luther King Jr. I have so many questions for this man of God, who led this nation into such a great change. If it wasn't for him accepting the call that God had upon his life, I wouldn't have even half the opportunities that I have been afforded now. I would love to pick his brain to ask how he was able to wake up every morning and face such overt racism and threats. How he still was able to motivate hundreds of people to keep fighting even though sometimes it seemed as if it was in vain. How he got so many people to hold tight to a vision that God had given him, that hadn't even started to come to fruition until some years after his death. I would also ask what are his feelings towards our people, culture, and nation today. Yes we have so much to be proud of, but we still have so much to work on. I would ask what it really takes to be a great leader, because it seems that we lack that today. I have such a great heart for our people, but it seems I don't know where to start, so I would ask him what were the steps that he took to get them to see that there has to be a better way. We may not endure the same trials and tribulations that he and the people of his generation had to, but we are dealing with things that are alot deeper, because they are generational. We need to step up and realize that the vicious cycle needs to stop with us in order to end this physical, emotional, and spiritual destruction. Most importantly, I would want to know how throughout all of these things he remained humble, faithful, loving, compassionate, and fearless. If God would give me a teensy bit of those things, I would be a much better person.

~Peace & Blessings

I absolutely love your photography and photo journal! I came across your website after you shot an acquaintance of mine's wedding. You do fantastic work! As soon as I am engaged, you can bet on me booking you.

As for someone I'd like to meet...I would've liked to spend time with Walt Disney. Not only was he a great economist, he valued families. He was able to look at orange groves and imagine a place where families would find joy. Even as an adult, I get lost in the magic of Disney World. I would love to pick both his business and creative mind.

Keep up the great work! You have another faithful reader!
