It's official.

The results are in.

My dad has lung cancer.

:-(

He is admitted into the hospital for a few days and is still going through a series of tests to determine how serious it is so the doctors can determine the best way to fight it. More than likely he will begin chemo and radiation as soon as possible. We'll know more after his biopsy.

Last night my mom and I went to see him in the hospital. Despite everything he is going through, he still was able to flash a smile for his photographer daughter and her camera. He has amazed me with his positive attitude and his continued faith in a time when I know he could easily be doing the opposite.

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has been leaving comments and writing emails and calling and texting. Your prayers are keeping me strong in this scary time. I told my dad in the hospital last night that my blog world was praying for him and it meant a lot to him knowing your circle of your prayers were surrounding him.

Scarlett, I'm so sorry to hear this news. I am an only child, too, so I can relate to how close you are to your parents. My heart breaks for you! Your family is surrounded by so many prayers--I hope you all can draw strength and comfort from that. Now we will pray that God leads your dad's medical team to treat this disease with their expertise and to treat your dad with compassion. Hang in there!!

God is in control, and he's bigger than any cancer. He's bigger than LIFE!!! For inspiration, pick up a copy of "The Positive Impact" book for your dad if he likes to read. He might like it.

Scarlett, I'm so sorry to hear this. I've read your blog for a bit (and I know Lauren Wright who speaks highly of you!). My mother was diagnosed with melanoma a little over a year ago, but thankfully we got to it soon enough. It didn't spread very far and with a biopsy and second surgery, the cancer is gone. I couldn't imagine knowing that chemo and radiation are next. Your father, you, and your family are in my prayers.

Scarlett -
You continue to be a huge inspiration to me in photography and in life. I recently came back to God after being away for too long. You are such a role model for Christian women and how to live your life for the Lord.

I'll continue to pray for you and your family and know that God will help you through these time.

And I've decided that today is my last day smoking. It's not worth it.
