My feet are numb.
And WOO HOO!!!! I DID IT! Not only did I run 10 miles, I ran a little bit over my goal at 10.38 miles and burned 1114 calories! And ok, maybe I didn't "run" the whole time, but with each run, I'm starting to gain more and more stamina to run more and walk less.
I've always joked with others that I always have my best workouts when I'm either feeling backed in a corner, or mad at someone. Though I'm not particularly mad at someone right now, I AM mad at this horrible disease that scares the crap out of people and takes loved ones from us, so today I ran for all those who have been effected by cancer. I legs are aching, my feet are covered in blisters, and I could barely breathe for most of the run, but it was worth every moment and I felt so alive.
On the Nike iPod, there is a button you can press to play your selected "power song". My song is Alive by P.O.D. Even though they are rockstars in the secular world, they are Christians, and I love this anthem they sing to God.
Everyday is a new day
I’m thankful for every breath I take
I won’t take it for granted
So I learn from my mistakes
It’s beyond my control, sometimes it’s best to let go
Whatever happens in this lifetime
So I trust in love
You have given me peace of mind
Chorus:
I, I feel so alive for the very first time
I can’t deny you
I feel so alive
I, I feel so alive for the very first time
And I think I can fly
Sunshine upon my face
A new song for me to sing
Tell the world how I feel inside
Even though it might cost me everything
And now that I know that it's beyond my control
It's like I can never turn my back away
And now that I’ve seen you
I can never look away

You go girl! That's awesome! You've motivated me to drag my Nikes out of the closest and get back out there :)
Look at you go...you run 10 miles AND eat healthy!
Kara- Glad I could motivate you. You and I need to get in a new challenge!
Rachel- Ha, I'm trying!
WOW! 10 miles! That is amazing. Thanks for sharing that song. It opened my eyes. I normally would have not given that song a chance but being able to read the words first made me realize that I could be missing some really great songs.
I can't believe you!! WOW!!! Amazing. You must be in fantastic shape. It's so great to be healthy and active isn't it? I just love it. I adore running; but I'm a three-mile TOPS kind of girl. Any longer I get bored! (And so does my dog.)
Shara- So glad you could be blessed by the song!
Jamie- Ha, I'm trying to get in shape. Running 10 miles makes you realize how out of shape you can be! I haven't run since b/c my ankles have been swelling. But yeah, my dog is about a three-mile dog too, so I've had to leave him home lately for my runs. He reaches a point after 3 or 4 miles where he just stops and plops in the grass and says no more and I have to carry him the rest of the way. Then again, he's only 10 pounds, I don't blame him.
I'm with Rhett...3 miles is plenty. I've never been able to run in my life b/c I have asthma but all of a sudden I had the urge to try. I ran 3/4 of a mile without stopping yesterday...THAT was a huge victory for me. Now I feel like a total wuss...thanks a lot! :)
Ha, that's more than I can run. I run maybe 1 or 2 minutes at a time, gasp, walk for another few minutes, then try to run again, gasp, walk... you get the point. I have yet to run a full mile yet. But I'm trying to work up to it!
